It worked fine for one tank of gas and now it won't open when the key is inserted to pull it out for the next tank of gas. Standing and fiddling with it for more than five minutes, the torque on the gas line wasn't healthy either. I took it apart to see if anyone tried to hack and break it. no The insides of the lock were normal, but that's where I noticed the lid release mechanism had play. So tightening it normally, about 2 or 3 clicks, is enough to make it tight enough not to let go when the mechanism warps and is no longer aligned with the other ring inside. The claws just pop out and distort, causing them to jump. The end result is that it sounds the same as if you closed it. The pawls aren't large enough to even out when removed, and the ratchet ring is also loose against the body to prevent puckering when unlocked mode is engaged. Just 1/16" more material on the pawls and a ratchet ring that would be wider and really touched the body ribs would be a good design. Someone cheated by molding the parts too tight, and again, a part most likely fits for everyone. Someone measured the components badly. I lost 20 bucks on this garbage!
