Sears had no intention of voiding our water softener warranty and sent a technician to "evaluate and fix" the unit. The technician arrived with no tools or parts for the unit but had plenty of system replacement brochures for $800 to $1,000. A few Google searches and I became a "techie". Cover and a few screws removed, old switch removed, new switch inserted, reassembled and the device is fixed. What Sears did was not appreciated.
