Works great with a fully loaded heavy Mikon D500.

I already have the original Octopad which fits easily in my Nikon D5300 with most of my lenses. My main photographer is the Nikon D500, which is too big and heavy for it. I've included photos to show how the Octopad XL compares to the original. It's a lot bigger and heavier. The extra weight is important when your gear is as heavy as mine. Of course, you will feel the extra weight when carrying the Octopad around. So if your gear doesn't call for an XL, you can use the smaller version. Both products have a vinyl bottom that "holds" everything. he wears. It's holding up really well. But it doesn't look sticky. Please note that it is very important to keep the floor clean to maintain the quality of the grip. The fabric on it is designed for heavy use. It is filled with something resembling sand. It's completely sealed, so what it's filled with doesn't go anywhere. Both versions have a Velcro strap that can be used to tuck away cables. The smaller version also has an eyelet tab. The paper insert for the XL also shows this cover, but they apparently removed it at some point. It's a shame. I like being able to attach it with a carabiner for easier carrying. The mount for this product works, but it seems like there should be an easier way. The lower part of the mount screws into the Octopad. The camera is screwed into the bracket at the top. Annoyingly, both ends screw in in opposite directions. This means you screw in one end and then either gently rotate the camera or rotate the Octopad to attach the camera to the mount. I had to constantly move the camera strap as it cooled around the Octopad mount while rotating the camera. A quick release camera mount would solve this problem. The ball head on the bracket is held securely. I say "something" because when I moved the camera it dangled a bit. Against this background, it is advisable to constantly check and tighten the screw on the ball head. Overall, I really like Octopad. I like being able to use slower shutter speeds without having to lug around my tripod. I am very happy with the XL model as I feel my heavy camera that comes with both a lens and a fast aperture is reliable for this product. I highly recommend it. I hope this review was helpful to you!
