If you like floss images these seem to fit in well. The thread is strong and firm. The curved, pointed handle makes it easy to use as a toothpick. However, I got them in hopes that they would be easier for my elderly dad, but they weren't easier for me, so I didn't even try him. The environmental benefits leave a lot to be desired. In order to finally cover all the areas between the teeth, four passes are required instead of two, ie twice as much work. (Read on for more details.) Reasons I'll be flossing again after I'm done flossing photos. 1) It takes more strength to close all the gaps between the teeth - four up and down strokes instead of two. With dental floss I need two steps: I trace the curve of the molar with an up and down movement, then with an up and down movement around the curve of the front tooth and then on to the next tooth gap. Because the floss doesn't bend, I have to go down the back tooth at an angle to the cheek, then again at an angle to the tongue, and then twice more along the side of the front tooth - from the side of the cheek, then from the side of the tongue 2) Learning from photos was difficult and time consuming. I finally figured out that I have to put my fingers on the piece of plastic just above the floss. Holding the photo by the outstretched handle, it was very difficult to get it between my teeth. To pull the floss out of between your teeth, all you have to do is saw at the right angle. At first the thread got stuck, even though I pulled hard. I was afraid I might loosen one of my crowns. I don't have this problem now but it was scary until I found a better way to use them. I couldn't see my elderly dad getting used to them so there was no point in buying them. 3) From an ecological point of view, I think the thread in a cardboard dispenser makes much more sense. The PLA plastic in these photos is definitely preferred over oil-derived plastic, however PLA takes 80 years to naturally degrade and 'compostable' refers to industrial composting at high temperatures. PLA will not compost under normal backyard composting conditions.
