Fast, easy and effective

Depending on the car, I hate cabin filters. Some are so buried in the dash that it's just a chore to pull out all sorts of bits before you can get to the body. The Honda Fit isn't like that, it's just a matter of compression and a few clamps. However, I can see that this job is intimidating, so it was nice to see the visual instructions that came with this filter, including the correct installation direction. The filter itself is great, good workmanship, fits perfectly, no complaints. I expect to ride it many thousands of miles and breathe cleaner air. Brief instructions for those who do this maintenance themselves, they are for the first generation (07-08) Honda Fit: - Open the glove box and empty the contents. - Pinch the sides and pull the glove box down and towards the rear of the vehicle. It turns down and to the side. Look at the dashboard and locate the filter housing. On my car it was a white rectangle with clips on the sides. - Push the clips to the center and pull the whole body to the rear of the vehicle. It slides out with the filter attached. Remove the old filter, paying attention to the installation position. Depending on the contents of the old filter, make different sounds of disgust. Install the new filter in the same orientation. The direction of the airflow is down to the ground. – Push the housing back in until both clips engage. - Pinch the sides of the glove box and rotate it back into the dashboard until it clicks into place. - Fill your glove box, throw away the old filter and brag to your significant other about your practicality and money saved.
