Plug things in (right always helps) and it works. Select the source displayed on your monitor from one of the 3 sources using the 3 button remote control with a small round lithium ion battery. I connected two sources. It takes some USB power and if you want you can plug it into an outlet as a converter is provided for that. So it's pretty easy. Now I had to order this device twice. The first just didn't work; couldn't tell why. But the replacement works. PS my monitor is an old VGA monitor so I have the added complication of having to convert from VGA to HDMI. I have another converter for that. It doesn't affect how it works and doesn't seem to affect quality - it's fine.
