Inexpensive but just what I was looking for

These are basically your stereotypical wooden clothespins. There are two wooden sides with a metal spring holding them together. The spring is quite strong and can easily hold even the heaviest garments. I've hung prom dresses, small blankets, and even large bath towels with just a clip or two. I'd say it's been a pretty tough spring. Each individual pin designed as a small hole to attach to a clothesline and then as a flat spot to attach to clothing. I find this works best if you attach both the clothing and the rope to the same spot. I'm not sure why this works better, but it seems. It just gives it better support (if you're hanging your clothes outside to dry in the wind, they need better support). The wood is soft and absorbent. I warn people against this because this wood gets very wet when it rains. It dries out easily but I suspect that over time this will lead to rot making it unusable. While the springs are strong, they break easily. I had this set for a month and lost about 5 of my clips simply because they fell apart and I couldn't find the other half. They deform and fall apart easily. I consider it a downfall because some clips don't last long. Let's assume that when you buy this set you get 40 good clips as 10 are likely to break in the first few months of use. Like I said, you get a lot for the price. 50 clips! The springs are strong and hold up well. They just tend to shift and fall apart easily. It's not a big deal, but I'd really like to find a way that doesn't have this problem. However, if all mine break, I will probably buy this set again. They are super frugal.
