Bought to try. It's an activated carbon filter, not coconut shell, so it doesn't have as good porosity (filters out fewer VOCs). Chloramine removal works well for 2-3 months at 2 gallons per day in my area, but then wears off. So at $20 a year, water treatment costs $80. for it (4 replacements) compared to $12 for standard coconut shell activated charcoal, which lasts 6 months at $6 each (2 replacements). Instead, to remove chloramine (charged particles), I use a cow magnet on the bottom of a glass pitcher and fill it with filtered coconut shell water with activated charcoal. After an hour the chloramine settles to the bottom around the magnet and the top 80% of the water is chloramine free. I just drain the bottom 20% of the water with the top water once. This allows me to filter chloramine without having to pay an additional $68/year for that filter and skip all the extra filter changes. I will not buy again.
