The installation of the perimeter wire required a significant amount of work to meet our needs. We used a pickaxe to dig a 1 to 3 inch deep trench. Check the instruction manual for more installation tool ideas. We also used about 400 feet of perimeter wire and there was plenty of wire left on the spool. The instructions are dense but necessary to set up the system properly. I had no major problems setting up the main power supply or collar receiver. A small issue we had was that the direction of the playground and restricted area was reversed. The instructions included useful troubleshooting steps that only required switching the negative and positive ends of the perimeter wire in the main power supply for it to work properly. Testing the Power Supply and Receiver Collar was easy and successful. Be sure to check the system before burying/covering the perimeter wire. The receiver's collar tripped in multiple places as it left the field after burying the wire around the perimeter. It took about 5 hours to install the system in our yard. Time varies based on individual needs. In general, a fence works well if you're willing to take the time to install it properly.
