This is the best night light

When I went shopping for night lights I was amazed at the variety of designs available. It's such a difficult decision to choose the right one without trying so many different ones. I ended up with a friend who settled on a store brand which I also like because it has a very large soft front that glows rather than emitting a focused beam of light like most night lights. It also has a unique feature that allows the user to adjust the brightness with a brightness slider to get the perfect amount of light for the place where it is used. I researched this design and found this one that has the same features but is even better in some ways. But it also has a problem you should be aware of. WHAT I LOVE My friend's device is about twice the size of this one and has the power plug mounted in the middle so you can't use it without plugging in both outlets. For me, that's a deal breaker. Not only is this one smaller, but it also has a rear-set connector so it can be used in both the top and bottom outputs without interfering with another output. Both brands have a dimmer slider, but in this case the amount of dimming is affected by the amount of light in the room, so I'd call it a smart dimmer. For example, if a lamp is on in the next room, this night light will balance that extra light. WHAT CAN BE IMPROVED The photocell sensor on this night light is very sensitive and will turn off at the slightest light nearby. On its own, that wouldn't bother me as much as the positioning of the sensor at the top of the night light, so what happens is that the light from the device itself, in my case, is reflected by everything nearby, for example, the socket is under the kitchen cabinet, and reflected light tricks the sensor into believing there is more light in the room than there actually is (because it is sensing its own light). You have to be very careful where you place this device because if it is too close to a bright surface it can cause the night light not to turn on at all. I bought several of these to use in the kitchen, laundry room, utility room and main hallway. The one in the hallway is directly opposite the bedroom door, which has a wider than usual gap at the bottom, meaning most night lights shine too brightly into the bedroom. It allows me to adjust the brightness to just enough, but not so much that it bothers the sleeper in the bedroom. They are well made and a good price. I like her.
