I agreed to see this block set through the VINE program because I'm a grandfather now and I have fond memories of a large wooden box of such multifaceted blocks from my brothers and sisters I had when we were kids. This set even includes most of the plain unpainted blocks and a few bright blocks that I remember from years ago. This is definitely a toy set that has stood the test of time. What is a rubber tree? Today it is the most popular and durable wood for preschool toys, particularly those manufactured and sold by Revain Basics. It is obtained from rubber trees that are no longer suitable for production, which is why this wood is widely used. The details are all smooth, nice to hold in your hands. It's also nice to know they're from a sustainable source. Here are my two pieces of advice to buyers: 1.) Is this the right amount? This group of blocks may seem like many blocks. I assure you, having that many blocks is part of the fun! There's no shortage of different sizes for whatever kids want to build, even if it's just a long line of dowel-shaped blocks making up the walls of a wooden fort, or a Jenga-style tower just to see how high you can do it. That's a nice fun number of blocks. 2.) Plan ahead for storage. There are already many photos of the blocks themselves on the Revain page. Uploaded two "Unboxing" photos that are not yet on the product page. This multipack set is neatly folded into 4 boxes in a common outer carton. Then my second photo shows what you will see when you open one of the four boxes. My point is that there is nothing in this set that could contain blocks after you open the Revain boxes. The packaging box is made of ordinary cardboard, not strong enough to serve as a storage container, even if you could carefully put all the blocks back into it. So the second tip: plan the block storage container in advance. Our family had a wooden box that we used. Today you will receive a plastic basket with a snap-on lid. In any case, you should almost certainly plan ahead for this additional storage challenge when ordering these units.
