I used them on the gray areas of the ceiling and they did a good job. In some rooms the ceiling is white again, in others it is still slightly gray. Sponges are relatively easy to clean, however there are still black spots on the sponge that will likely never go away. After a single use, they must be washed. They dry overnight. I separated one of the sponges as another reviewer suggested. The severed side is rough, unlike the smooth side of a regular sponge. In my case, the surface of the blanket is not very smooth, so the rough side of the sponge left small pieces of sponge on the blanket.
