Use it for the first time without the blade installed (more details below).

I used to travel with a Bic single blade disposable razor which did the job but didn't shave as well as my WW2 Gillette. Well, the Hide & Drink lid (I'm still scratching my head at the name) allowed me to take my trusty double edge with me when hitting the road. permanently installed - hence the "title" of my review. I recommend removing the blade from the razor and THEN placing the sheath on the razor. After a day or so, the sheath will stretch/take on enough shape to allow you to reinsert the blade and securely slide the "charged" razor back into the sheath. Overall VERY happy with this addition to my shaving kit. I will be buying a few more soon to protect the other vintage razors I just inherited from my late father.
