assembled once then disassembled and reassembled as only the instructions on the pictures were very unclear it is actually a nice scratching post. I have a masters degree in mechanical engineering and couldn't figure out the direction, I imagine it would be a lot harder for the average cat lover to build. Tip: There are bars in the cat houses.
