Meh Quality Audio, complicates cable management

The 2.1 surround sound speakers that I have connected to my computer for the last 8 years recently broke and I needed a replacement speaker set. I bought these during the Black Friday sale for $49.99 and compared to my 8 year old speakers which I bought for $39.99 the sound quality is nowhere near as good as the comparison. I'm by no means an audiophile, but these speakers lack the sonic brilliance that most midrange speakers have. The bass in the speakers sounds good, if a lot less punchy than my old set; it doesn't even rock my desk, let alone my room. One thing I think is VERY worth noting: if you're planning on running your audio control cable through a grommet, look elsewhere. I have 2.5" grommets in my desk and the volume knob barely fits through them, even after unplugging all the cables for my monitors, keyboards, etc. There's no way to pull the cable from the volume knob to the subwoofer, meaning you have no choice but to force the entire volume knob through the hole the cables are routed through. The main volume control on our keyboards. Not to mention that the 3.5mm connector on the volume control is useless if you want to use a headset, as it lacks the pin required for the microphone, so you only get audio output. After all, I'll probably be replacing them with something other than Logitech in the next year or two (their quality has steadily declined over the years), but due to financial constraints over the holidays, that was the only option. my price range.
