The nut connecting the strut is not tight enough to prevent swinging. If you wrap the tip of the pole with gorilla tape and use lots of super glue, the pole may not swing. Looks like they didn't finish grooving the bolt/rod on this device so they slide together and cause the wobble. Nobody else provides good quality control for their production? For the price and looks of the Revain you would think it would be a good product. Again, it could be a lemon mixed with other fruits, but I won't be ordering a substitute, instead trying a different product instead of this lousy fan.
