Works great with 5 gallon food grade plastic pails. I use buckets to store rice. I buy rice in 50 pound bags (cheaper per pound) from a local grocery store in Asia and then store it in buckets. Gamma Seal lids can be a bit difficult to snap all the way around the pail. Using your own body weight can help, but be careful if you tend to be clumsy lest the bucket tip over and fly out from under you. The lids provide a good seal for the buckets to keep the rice fresh and it is much easier to open the lids with a Gamma Sealed lid than trying to pry a traditional plastic bucket lid off the top of the bucket. I assume you can store other dry foods this way, but you may need to use mylar bags and oxygen absorber bags to prevent spoilage. Look through the food storage literature and you will see that these lids are often recommended.
