All of the mentioned black screen, random disconnects, and poor quality issues are related to using the included DP cable. I had all of these issues, including random line artefacts on the screen. I bought an HDMI 2.1 cable as a prep for the monitor thinking it wouldn't come with the cable but it happened so I used it first it worked at first but was very picky and had the issues, that I was talking about. So I switched to an HDMI 2.1 cable and now it works fine with no issues. For an actual view of the monitor where the colors actually appear, you'll have to change the settings yourself, as the default configuration is gross. However, if you get it right and Samsung offers a massive amount of image editing options, you will love this monitor. HDR isn't really HDR so I didn't use it. The gaming aspect is great, better than most budget high refresh rate monitors in terms of input lag and pixel response time. I was able to see better on this monitor despite only getting a resolution boost (I was previously at 1440p + 144Hz). This is probably due to significantly better pixel response times and input lag compared to my cheaper gaming monitors (AOC 34 inch ultrawide). Overwatch is very fast-paced and fights can sometimes feel like a cartoonish brawl where all you can see is dust, but with this monitor the pixel response time really helps reduce motion blur and streaks, which means that it is easier to make sense of what you see. For viewing it's great, coming from a 32 inch Samsung 4k display, UJ59 or similar I think. This display is smaller but better. The old display was a VA panel, popularly known for its contrast and dimmability. However, in my opinion, this IPS is actually better in contrast and dark levels. Of course, if I had an OLED next to me I'd probably say something different, but compared to my AOC, the AOC looks like a cheap washed-out monitor, so much so that my G70A looks OLED compared. HDMI 2.1 also supports 4k. Play on Netflix for PC, an unexpected but welcome update.
