The edges of these collars are quite soft to the touch which is very important to us as two of our cats have sensitive skin and do get collar ulcers can with harder edges. So far, there's also no sign of them dissipating along those soft edges like some have in the past. We will keep an eye on this. We don't want the cat(s) to be disturbed by loose threads or play with them because they could eat them or get them between their teeth. We write the cat's name and our phone number on it with a marker before sticking it on the cat for caring people to call when we both go outside and actually walk around a bit (mostly hanging out in our yard). We don't leave the bells on because they seem to make our shy cat even more shy. Otherwise, these collars don't bother him at all. When he comes home without it (usually he gets stuck on something and bursts as expected) he comes to us to meow for a new one. We think he actually feels insecure and insecure without him. They open fairly easily as they should, but not as easily as our previous set. I hope that doesn't cause any problems. They are too big for our youngest cat who is only 11 months but quite big. After a while she becomes uncomfortable and starts playing with the collar. She can pinch their paw or even their jaw in the "second loop" that forms when they get small, as another reviewer previously pointed out. She's not dating though, so we probably just won't dress her up. The colors aren't as flashy as the 12+ collars we've received before - I'm particularly skeptical about the decision to make one of these brown - but we appreciate the reflective strips and the colors work well. The cat doesn't care, we just want them to look cute!
