The suction cup stays in place and fits snugly in the stand. Just push firmly to lock it in place.

Works as it should, you just have to use a lot of pressure to get the ball into the holder/clamp properly. Saved me from constantly looking at the cup holders where my GPS used to be since I lost the original suction cup. It soaks up and stays in place even better than the original.
