This is my second. The first served about 2 years, then for some reason when turned over on a hike, it began to drip out of the lid. Maybe the water in it froze and expanded over the winter. Overall, I liked it so much that I ordered another one. My dog has strong opinions about what he will drink water from. She doesn't like collapsible nylon bowls that you can pack away. She likes this trough very much. I usually just pour water in instead of using a spray cap. The spray is a nice fine mist if your dog likes to be sprayed. I have an opinion on that too! It's actually a handy way to get her water while wearing pants with a belt to hang them up. I wish there was the same shiny design when we ran. It also works well in the car when we run errands.
