Review on ๐Ÿฟ Commercial Popcorn Machine - 6210 Great Northern by Kyle Robbins

Great popcorn, fast but small body

I work in a large school cafeteria. We had 2 old machines with a gold medal and both were out of service. They were so old our mechanic couldn't even find valid part numbers! I was instructed to find a replacement quickly before we could award a gold medal (which by the way is very expensive). It was one of the few 12-ounce machines available for immediate delivery, but I had concerns about the huge price difference between the machines, with no apparent reason why the prices varied so much. I received this item quickly as promised and one thing struck me immediately. was that even though the kettle was the same size as our old machines - 12 ounces - the body is much smaller. I knew the hull was smaller, but I didn't realize how small it was until I saw it in person. Our old machines took up the entire area of the shopping cart, and these about half the area. The installation went quickly. I was very pleased that the kettle was not sewn up, as cleaning was very difficult. This is a plug-in kettle so it can be easily removed for proper cleaning. After hanging the kettle, you can open the front service door, hinged glass doors and protective corners. Finally place the core box below. That's it, you're ready to go. I suggest wiping everything down with a damp cloth and light dish soap before fully reassembling as you will be serving the food straight out of the machine. In addition to all the items needed for assembly, the package also includes a salt shaker, scoop, measuring cups, popcorn bags and reusable boxes. which of course gives you 12 ounces of popcorn. For our typical 1.25 ounce box, we serve them for about 9 boxes, as expected, with very few unopened seeds. You can easily cook 2 servings at a time, but no more because the body is too small to cook more. In comparison, our old machine could hold 4 batches. With this machine clapping faster, I don't really expect it to be as much of a problem as it should be. However, two reasons I deducted a star are the small case. This is more of a personal preference than a design flaw as the dimensions are shown, but if we could put our hands and the box inside the box to fill the boxes we would now have to take the ladle out of the box to close the box to fill. Not a big deal, but leaves a small pile of the inevitable dropped grains at your feet and the whole filling process feels a bit stressful. The second reason is that the service door does not stay up when opening the glass doors. It's held by glass doors, so every time you open the doors it falls on you and you have to support it again to close the doors. Another not a big problem but worth mentioning as a minor annoyance. Note: if you think the glass doors won't stay open, push them flush with the body and they open! Closing words: If you use it for concessions like us I think you'll be happy with this car, but if like us you have a big school you might want to consider more spacious apartments. Given the great price, speed and great result, we can always get a second one next season. But given the endless budget, I would still go for a larger-bodied model.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
