Review on πŸ”§ Multi-Purpose Neoprene Sheets by Rubber Sheet Warehouse by Steve Campbell

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Mounted on weight racks (5 to 120 weights) with contact cement

I repainted the weight racks and wanted to protect the area the weights rest on. I needed 6 foot strips 2" to 4" wide - it was most economical to buy a large roll and cut the strips I needed. The gum had an odor but it will always be there first and then eventually go away. The roll is slightly larger than the size I ordered (both in length and width) and the edges were trimmed evenly. I marked with a pen (and could see the line) and cut with a razor blade (my cuts were pretty straight). I wiped the painted surface, then I wiped it and the rubber strips with alcohol. You will need good ventilation and a mask when using Contact Cement (I used Dap Weldwood). I simply applied it to both surfaces, waited about 20 minutes and then placed the rubber strips on the counter. The 6ft strip was flimsy so it took two people to put it down. We tried not to stretch it, but every strip we routed had to cut the end back off (maybe 1/4" to 1/2", which we cut off with scissors). It wasn't instant contact, we could pick it up again and drop it - and the last contact was solid. We immediately put on weights (ranging from 5lbs to 120lbs) and it looks good and I expect it to be durable.
