Review on Power Front K15039DK Performance Rotor by Kyle Cross

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Read before you buy!

As there was no detailed review of this brake kit prior to purchase, I will be the one to provide as much detail as possible when I take the plunge. For reference, I have a 2004 Toyota. Tacoma Xtracab, 2.4 liter truck with 5 studs. I saw that Revain has a "Guaranteed Fit" badge on this kit, but to be sure I checked the Powerstop website to see if this kit would actually fit my truck. The front rotors and pads fit well, but the included brackets to hold the pads in place tended to pop out frequently when attempting to install a pad. Many of the problems relate to the rear. The first problem we encountered was that the pin on the brake shoe did not match the automatic parking brake adjustment lever (see first picture) as the diameter of the pin was too large. The pin itself was also a completely different shape, so it wouldn't have worked in that sense either, as the lever would have been shifted from its intended position. I called powerstop support and they got me to email my situation and charge Revain. The next business day (I called and emailed them on Friday so they replied on Monday). A good representative named Pedro gave me his direct line to reach him so I called him and confirmed the problem. He told me the rear kit didn't really fit, but would be happy to send me a set of original pads, which arrived within a week (not bad!). The replacement shoes they sent fit so it's not too much of a problem, although it would be nice if the original powerstop kit I ordered worked. are re-color coded, so let us know if they are the same or different (in this case, reverse copies). It's nice that the kit included new pins, springs and lock plates, as well as rubber adjuster caps. I had a problem with both drum brake adjusters. There should be screws with opposite threads on each side so that when you turn the gear down the lever stays in that position and you should hear a click. The kit included two screws with the same thread, so we ended up using just one of the new ones and reusing the old screw and anchor for the other side. The drums themselves came up too, no complaints. With the brake kit fully installed, the fronts squeaked for about a day before finally quieting down, which is normal for carbon pads from personal experience. The brake feel is very reliable and in normal everyday use the brakes do not fade over time. Overall: thank goodness someone makes a brake kit for this truck, but you need different pads for the rear drums OR make a rear drum from a set. Shoes run with a little elbow grease. I would give this product 3 stars because although almost half of them didn't work the customer service was excellent and fixed the issue quickly so kudos to Powerstop for fixing the issue quickly.
