Review on 🦑 Badger Hair Brush Stand Holder with Men's Straight Shaving Razor and Leather Strop Soap Bowl by Kimberly Johnson

Probably the best value for money razor set

First of all I would like to disagree with the comments/responses that suggest this razor is impractical and/or the blade is somehow not good enough for regular use. Shave. I find the quality of this blade to be as good as any other under $200 razor on the market. I bought this set a few months ago and have been using it regularly ever since. The blade holds the edge very well and shaves very smoothly. I believe that users who are unhappy with the quality of the blade or how sharp it is have sharpened it incorrectly. You must be willing and patient enough to prepare the blade before first use. However, the supplied stone is completely unsuitable for the initial preparation of a blade. You must use a wet stone or diamond stone wide enough to prepare the blade. I used wet stones ranging from 400 to 8000 grit to prep the blade and then straightened it on the included strap (with green compound on the cloth side and trim on the leather side). Some comments on the blade are given below. 1. Spine and edge parallel/level. This can be seen in the photos as the polished finishes along the spine and edge are of a fairly constant width throughout the length. This also means that the thickness of the blade is fairly constant around the edge. If they were not properly aligned, the blade would be difficult to prepare. I was able to prepare the blade without difficulty. 2. Not sure if I'm lucky with the geometry but it looks like it's a stock blade. So it's a fair point that others might expect a similar blade.3. The edge holds very well! The first use after the haircut was good with a few microscopic edge imperfections that didn't prevent me from getting a good shave. Subsequent shaves became progressively better by repeatedly wiping the skin after each shave. A few months after the shave, the blade is very sharp and flawless under the microscope. I believe that the blade can stay sharp for a long time with proper care. The shave is pleasantly smooth on my coarse beard hairs, even if they are half an inch long. Maintenance only requires a post-shave stop to keep the blade straight. Overall this is a fantastic product for the price. And that, although the included stone is a joke. If anyone is romanticizing about using a regular razor, they should know that you need a decent set of sharpening stones ($30-$40 worth), and with some advice from around the internet, you can prime the razor for a satisfying shave . Or you can send it to a honing machine for $30. In any case, the blade is able to do its job well and the combination of brush, stand, soap, bowl, strap and paste makes this item a very good choice for a razor shave at a great price.
