This seat has two bad qualities that deprive it of choice as I understand it. First, it is made from "molded wood". What is molded wood? How is wood made? Well, molded wood is just pressed sawdust of very fine gradation. When the seat broke shortly after installation, I had a loud "pop" on board and there were fine wood shavings under the broken dresser that looked like termites had been at work. (There were no termites, of course.) One reason for this, aside from faulty "molded wood", was the use of only two bumpers near the front of the seat. That means the sides from those bumpers to the hinges have to be self-supporting, making the seat prone to breakage. The old seats and some today had/have four bumpers, two in the front and two in the back/side of the seat. We returned this item for a Kohler quad bumper seat with plastic which is much easier to clean and which we are happy with.
