I am designing a device that requires a 4-wire full-duplex RS-422 interface. I've done this before and in the past I've used a vendor specific RS-422 card plugged into the ISA slots on the motherboard for testing purposes. Since modern computers don't have ISA slots anymore, I needed something else to test to convert USB to RS-422. Using multiple adapters was necessary due to the odd pinout of the 9 pin connector (the boards I used 20 years ago have the same 9 pin connector but all signals move). LEDs also help a lot.
