My family has gotten so much use out of this little timer/clock/alarm. The quality is great, and all functions have worked smoothly. The display is clear, vibrant and beautiful with all the colors. It feels very solid; the weight in the bottom of the clock, combined with the little rubber feet, make it stay in place very well. The feature I love most and what we usually use this for is the visual countdown timer. I set this for my kids on school mornings so they can see how much time they have before we need to leave. It really seems to help keep them on track with getting ready. I also set the timer for their sessions on electronics. It keeps me from having to constantly remind them that their time is almost up. I have used it for time outs, and it seems to help calm them down faster, which is the point of a time out. They like knowing how much time is left, so they don't keep whining to me about when they can get out. We set alarms for reminders when we have something special going on. I just love this device. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because it has a cord that stays plugged in. Normally, I would like that feature for an alarm clock. However, with a visual timer, we like to move it around with us so we can keep checking it, especially from room to room as we get ready for school in the morning. A rechargeable battery would have been better for this in my opinion. There is an option for battery back-up, and I put 3 rechargeable AAA batteries in. This helps when we move it, but I still find myself carrying the cord around and plugging it in if an outlet is available.
