Despite the affordable price, this product has a terrible design. The hole at the bottom (where the salt and pepper come out) is permanently sealed on one side (salty side). So when you grind spices, you have to shake the grinder back and forth to get the spices out. To make matters worse, since the salt side is sealed where it's spread, not all of the salt (actually not all of it) comes out when you grind it. So if you just want pepper and then shake the grinder to get it, you will ALWAYS get salt at the same time (in an uncontrolled amount). It's a shame I didn't buy this product. We call it the "curse of our dining existence" in my house.
