These boots are an odd red almost rustic hue. Eventually, after a few weeks of fracturing and exposure to moisture, they take on a darker brown hue. They scratch very easily, but once the material turns brown it doesn't matter. This is my second pair. I've had my current pair for almost 5 months now and they've held up pretty well, surviving 16 hours a day between two different jobs. Now they may not look very pretty, but they cope with the task. My first pair survived the Alaskan winter and worked at the airport. Although they have been soaked by rain, snow and aircraft de-icer, I do not recommend using them as winter boots, although it is possible.
