The software for the camera wasn't completely finished when it was released, but during the past month and a half, it has been updated three or four times, and each of those updates has greatly improved some of the functionality (the last ate made a great night mode). The panorama mode, on the other hand, has a lot of room for improvement; numerous times, I attempted to take a picture of the horizon of the sea, but the results were unsatisfactory. The dynamic range of the wide-angle camera appears to be narrower than that of the primary camera; the colors are more washed out; and so on and so forth. My hope is that this will be rectified at some point in the future. FWIW, the phone is excellent for taking conventional photographs; landscape, portrait, "macro" (if you want to call it that), city landscape, and selfies are all totally normal with it (but this is not accurate). PS: The answer to the question of which option to go with is becoming incredibly obvious at this point: if you want an ideal phone with an ideal camera in the future, you go with OnePlus. Choose the Pixel 3 XL if you want the perfect camera right now and instantly and you don't care about bangs, old age, or anything else like that.
