Please remember this is a magnifying glass, not a microscope, you cannot see inner cells or microscopic bacteria with it. It does an excellent job of magnifying objects that would normally be impossible to see without a quality magnifying glass. The video screen is of average quality since you get a 12-megapixel camera. The money is in the camera, not the video screen. If you connect them to a high-quality video monitor, the image resolution will be greatly improved. This is a must for young children, it will open up a whole new miniature world for them. I chose this $99 device because the cheaper devices had low-resolution cameras and the more expensive devices didn't offer much better features, and I didn't think they were worth the extra money. This device had a good mix of everything at a reasonable price. I think in about 10 years, when the kids are older, I'll spend about $1,000 and buy a trinocular microscope good enough to get them into college.
