2005 Chevy Silverado - RED WIRE INSTRUCTIONS

WORKS for my 05 Silverado, MUST use the red wire. I connected all the wires from this Metra to the Pioneer wiring harness that came with my new stereo by twisting all the wires of the same color together and then threading nuts onto each wire (I used gray nuts but I had to use a truncate number). of exposed wires). down the cable slightly, the blue cable nuts are larger and will probably work, although when reinstalled they take up more space behind your radio which was already tight in my truck) I wanted to write this review to clarify exactly HOW TO USE THEM RED BY WIRE. This Metra wiring harness has a red wire that appears to be connected to the factory GM wiring harness. I tried it that way first and it did NOT work. I added a red wire and it worked. Here's the process: The red wire on the main unit/stereo harness is the one this included red wire connects to. Wire or solder the nut together and then connect it to the fuse box. There was barely enough wiring in my Chevy, and they had to be routed right under the dash, not under the dash like I would have preferred. If you have the plug end in the fuse box, be sure to pull the fuse for something that works when your key is on (like windshield wipers, NOT the fuse for something that always has power, like brakes or emergency lights). This kit contains a small brass tap/clamp that is shaped like a question mark (?) when rotated sideways. Slide it through the perfectly formed hole on the clip onto one of the securing legs. Reinstall the fuse and you should have the flat copper end of the faucet protruding over the top of the fuse. Insert the red wire fitting directly into the faucet tongue. Now everything should be ready!
