I bought this filter to solve the limescale problem on our water glasses. The filter made a huge difference and the water tasted so much better. We live in the desert of the southwest; Most of our water supply comes from open channels. Ugly scale forms on the inside of glass used for water, especially on the top half. I've tried many combinations of dishwashing detergents, additives, and cycles with no success. Hand washing did not bring better results. Filling a jar with vinegar and leaving it overnight didn't help either. The only way to get rid of the limescale was to buff with a dry cloth with such force that I was afraid of breaking the glass. Glasses for other drinks didn't have this problem. Everything is much better now. Some days glasses look great straight out of the dishwasher. On other days, a little polish is fine, but the scales aren't as thick and a lot less sticky. By the way, the other "active ingredients” are LemiShine Powder Additive and Liquid Rinse Aid, as well as Cascade Complete Powder in the new Bosch dishwasher with a regular cycle with disinfection and heated drying options, but this combination may not be the best for your water. I had to buy a separate bracket and install it between the valve and the fridge, but it was worth it. Clarification: I only installed this filter for drinking water and an ice maker. The dishwasher still uses unfiltered tap water.
