I wanted to light up the rope around the side door for Christmas. I didn't want to poke holes in the aluminum trim or door frame. We taped them around the edge of the door frame so when you look at the house the brackets are on the sides. It was 50 degrees and it was getting dark so we just held them down for a minute and attached the lights to a string. It's been a month of warm, cool, cold, damn cold, rain, a foot of snow, and an ice storm, and nobody's moved. We didn't clean the surface, we just wiped it with a sleeve. Even if I have to replace them every year, it's worth the cost for longevity and ease of use.
