At launch, Kitchenaid warned that these whisks could overload the mixer motor. I assumed it was because it wasn't a KA product and they just didn't like it when you use aftermarket products and then KA came out with their own and I thought I was right. Not long ago I used this whisk for a relatively thick batter. and the blender got so hot it even smoked a bit. I used the original whisk that came with the kit and had no problems. Looking at KA brand rubber-edged fly knives, I found that the rubber is only on one side, which puts a lot less stress on the engine than this knife with rubber on both edges. I will no longer be using this with my blender. Updated November 2020 - I decided to cut the rubber off one side of the racquet to make it look like a KA trademark and the issue has been resolved. I took a new blade and just cut off the thin part on the edge of one of the blades. It still works great but doesn't put too much strain on the engine. I've been using it this way for several years.
