I have removed the chain. It's on my keychain. The previous version, which I have had for 16 years, began to crack due to age and wear. This surprised. It has way more card space than I expected, as well as multiple card slots with a transparent screen. I like the part of the coin much better than my previous version. It's not a flat zippered compartment that you have to struggle to get your fingers through. Instead, it has a latch and slides out, allowing coins to be retrieved quickly and easily. Plenty of room for dollar bills with a double compartment that can be split if needed. I replaced the mounting ring with a stronger one. I tend to abuse them. The chain itself was nice and strong and if you had used it as designed rather than part of a keychain a ring would have sufficed. This is NOT a flat wallet if you get cards [if you have more than a pair] and money. The coins only add to the bulk. I don't need an apartment because of the keychain factor. [It's impossible to forget your wallet when it's attached to your car keys.]
