Genie 2055-LED Stealth 500 Essentials, LED Bulbs Included, Ultra-Quiet Belt Drive Garage Door Opener Review

I thought i ordered one with the lights included and the wall console.No lights and a crappie push button switch.The rails are very cheap and flimsy and do not keep the unit straight. It works one my single door but I am waiting for it to self destruct.I have a Chamberlin on my double door. That is what I should have bought. Not Best Buy's fault Genie just builds a piece of junk.Directions are the best part, very clear and concise.Be sure to look at what you are buying.

I bought this to replace a 20+ year old genie screw drive opener. Never again.Good: much quieter, easy to put together, reasonable price.Bad: the electrical terminal block on the head unit is a terrible design. It is not the traditional metal screw terminals that are still used on the wall switch and safety eyes.The terminal strip is a stab-in style which forces you to press on a small plastic tab to open a spring loaded terminal. Instructions well written coupled with well engineered parts made this great purchase. It’s so quiet, sometimes I check to see if it’s moving.

Well written and illustrated directions. Some experience with complicated installations may be necessary. On the whole, there is a $700 difference doing it yourself. We did it as a replacement for an old one, don’t know about putting it in as a first time installation

Had a problem at first with motor kicking out .Talked to factory rep solved problem .Great customer service.Pictures show belt adjustment bent ,Don't make since ,the belt pulls not push. guess the sudden stop bent it -? -UPDATE -Thought maybe Genie would reach out and offer to replace belt or reply to this review -NO

Product works great. Got here in a day. However, it was missing a couple pieces. We had to go buy the missing pieces which was annoying. Took my husband about 4 or 5 hours to do. He loves it now that it's up and running.

you might have to make an adjustment to the length. with the bracket provided, i was able to use the original one that was mounted. that is the only reason i gave it 3 stars for install.

Likes: Installation was a breeze <2hours ( this was a swapout.) Includes removal of old unit. Quiet…makes old Genie chain drive sound like a car crusher. Old remotes can be reprogrammed…old remotes were 20 years old. Nice radius of remote, door is up before i get there, no waiting. Programming of drive is a snap. Customer service was knowledgeableDislikes: Customer service wait times 2-3 hours, they call you. Possibly underpowered, wait till winter.

I had it installed and the guy said it was easy peasy. It's also very quiet. So quiet, in fact, my dogs don't even react to it opening when I come home.

Installation was not difficult. Quiet operation is as expected. Programming the automobile HomeLink was unpleasant and frustrating.

I would have given this 5 stars, but the description is misleading. It's stated that the opener comes with the LED bulbs, but this is not the case. I ordered a total of three of these openers and not one of them had the bulbs.

Was looking for a simple opener without a lot of extras, needed to work with homelink and be quiet. This was perfect. Added the extension because every door pretty much needs one. Programming is simple. Only downside was the battery in remote needed replacement immediately. Why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars

Only took 25 minutes to install we had an old garage opener already. It makes almost no noise compared to our old one. And the lights are very bright but it came with one remote. I'm very satisfied with it. But I think I will put a bell on it.

Replaced a 25 year old Overhead Door opener. This is my second install so it went up very fast. Somewhat concerned about the rail segments coming apart but have had no problems over the past two years with the other one. Have had difficulty syncing with my Homelink on this model but it could be the different 2021 Ford vehicle.

Had it installed by Best Buy, a month later the door only close have way. Best Buy customer service is terrible! It requires professional installation, which can add further costs to your investment.

This belt drive is so much quieter than the chain drive that I replaced. I'm very happy with this controller! The garage door opener does not come with a backup battery, leaving you vulnerable in case of a power outage!

Hired the company who takes care of all things Garage Doors related. They had the same product but were considerably higher in price. The cost of having them charge for labor saved me lots of money, along with the unit, and the peace of mind it was done correctly. It runs so much quieter than the old Craftsman! It is so nice to have a business you have worked with for years that you can trust not to nickel and dime you because you didn't buy the product from them! SO HAPPY with this garage door
