So this doorstop has arrived, thanks Revane. It hangs a few times on boot, so I fix Gigabyte and call Gigabyte without expecting anything at all. I wait about 45 minutes before finally deciding to just leave a message. I explain the situation in the message and hang up. The next afternoon I finally get a call back from a man whose native language is obviously not English. Not even close. She's nice enough when I have to ask her to repeat it multiple times, but she soon becomes bored with the conversation. She prompts me to update the BIOS and tells me less than six minutes later that she's been on the phone long enough for me to troubleshoot myself. I updated the bios and now it freezes even earlier! Can't have a processor, can't have windows, can't have a power supply as I've tested it on another computer and it works great. And gigabytes don't care.
