As another reviewer noted, assembly is not very easy. You have 4 round bit halves and you need to insert one half into the other half. Twice. It turns out this is the hardest part. You must align and insert the bits together, not on one side. Since the screws go through them to hold them together, they really shouldn't be that tight. Also, the instructions aren't the clearest thing in the world. I've assembled quite a few Ikea scratching posts and furniture so I'm pretty good at everything at this point, but if you've never assembled anything like this before the instructions won't help much. If you already know what you're doing, it makes sense. There are several important points here. There are suction cups on the bottom to help you if you have a non-rug floor. You can easily remove the wash pad as it is attached with Velcro. Washability is one of the most important features of everything in my house because we have 8 long haired cats and no matter what you feed them or how often you brush them sometimes hairballs will appear. It comes with a screwdriver and an extra screw which I like a lot. The attached image shows Raleigh (red) and Cassidy (black). For a time, the Raleighs took a keen interest in fluffy balls, but he didn't seem to want to be on the bed. Cassidy was very interested in what Raleigh was doing, but she didn't get out of bed. Raleigh weighs about 16 pounds and he fits because I picked him up and put him on top of him but he immediately jumped off. I may have to remove one of the fluffy balls so it doesn't disturb his sleep. I'm taking off a star because the part is very difficult to assemble and the instructions weren't very good. I like the thought behind it though. I think small kittens will enjoy it more than giant kittens. I think the price is great ($27 today) for this quality.
