I've got a two-year-old Labradoodle "puppy" rescued from a puppy mill after he was determined not suitable as a sire. He lived his whole life in a small cage and then a somewhat larger one at the SPCA after he was surrendered.I adopted him about three weeks ago and had acquired a suitably sized crate to help work thru the growing pains of housebreaking. Never having seen the inside of a house and understanding the appropriate place to do his business, that was the first priority and after a couple accidents, he picked up that portion of puppyhood quickly. The rest has been more of a challenge.I doubt he ever saw dog toys at all, but anything with cloth material quickly becomes stuffing all over the floor. The only difference between him and a real puppy is he missed those 9 months of training and correction.I bought him a padded bed with a nice removable, washable cover that he slept nicely on day one. Day two saw the cover ripped, day three it was destroyed. The internal padding is still in one piece, more than likely due to the fact that he's spending less and less time in the crate. However, there will be periods that he'll need to spend the day in the crate until he's housebroken and I've anticipated the bed will be destroyed fairly quickly.The turf has a nice rubber backing and holes to allow drainage. I doubt that there will be a drainage issue i my case but it's good to note. I wanted something under him so he didn't have to lay on the bare metal. The material feels very soft. It's thick enough that my dog should at least be comfortable.I really like it and expect he will also once needed. I'll return later and update once I decide it's time to pull the current bedding and report how he treats his new one.
