Review on 🎀 Silver Sony ECMCS3 Omnidirectional Stereo Microphone - Clip Style Design by Sharon Weaver

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Live music recording.

I bought a new Sony UDX71 recorder for fifty dollars in 2009 and have since recorded thousands upon thousands of song ideas and demos on electric and acoustic guitars with two small built in microphones on top. The thing was amazing with two exceptions. A lot of processing noise is recorded when starting and stopping recording. And at times the sound was a bit thin on the bass side. I read the reviews about it and decided to give it a try. It seems good for the money as it has eliminated the operating noise and the sound is thicker. The recorder has two gain levels, low and high. At high frequencies it was very easy to clip/distort the mic's sound when it was close to a loud source, so I recorded at low settings. I simply placed the mic on a cushion in front of the 2X12 booth about a foot and a half away, played a loop with the zoom stick, and soloed over the loop. Around 3:20 on the record you can start with some CLI/distor on the left here. The loop was too quiet and the solo too loud, but I think it sounds like a decent demo. I've also tried mounting the mic in the sound hole of an acoustic guitar, with promising results.
