We had an old computer with Win 7 installed. We had a small power surge that messed it up the SATA controller on the motherboard and the C:HD drive. We didn't actually use the PC anymore so I decided to make it a LINUX box just to play around with when I get it working again. I installed this card in a PC and connected a blank hard disk drive (HD) and a DVD drive to this card. I put in the Ubuntu LINUX installation DVD and the computer booted up, installed Ubuntu LINUX and it's been working great ever since. HD loads every time. I had no idea if it would work or if the computer was broken. For about $20 I have a new toy to play with, which is definitely better than just recycling.
