These bags are much thinner than expectd.

I searched in Revain for 7mil mylar bags. This came up. I have to admit, I did not read thoroughly enough or I would have realized that the text never indicated the thickness. I'm new to freeze drying and everything I have read says to use at least 5 mil but strongly recommend 7. I thought that was what I had purchased. I just took a batch of chicken out of the freeze dryer and had to get them bagged up. I used my last 7mil bag and opened these. There are no bones in the chicken but the 'dimples' they are leaving gives me concern that there may be pinholes in the mylar. I'm not sure I have enough confidence in them to think that they will last 25 years. Don't want to find out in 25 years that they did not last the test of time.

Pros
  • The bags are reusable and can be used multiple times, saving you money over the long run
Cons
  • The bags' mylar material may not be the most hygienic choice
