My grandfather worked on the railroad for over 50 years. He had the same lunch box. So when my old soft walled box with a hard plastic liner started to fail and I couldn't find another similar one... Well, I had to bite off this baby. He's definitely tough and tough. I had to make some minor modifications to the latch on the inside of the thermos to permanently mate with the small clamp mount. (It's the secret that the big thermos always stays inside and never falls over... but it needs to be aligned). The box isn't perfect, but it's pretty good. I really like this lunch box, and yes, it's kind of nostalgic. But it's solid, big and looks cool. However, when you fill a thermos (I have a 24-ounce food can) and put a decent lunch in it, things get heavy. I mean, you can get a pretty good curl workout with this thing. But for me…. It's worth every pound.
