Review on Juno Lighting Temperature Retrofit Downlight Lighting & Ceiling Fans by Crystal Forrest

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The speaker sounds fantastic, the light is very good and infinitely adjustable

The speaker sounds fantastic. The ceiling isn't the best place for a speaker, but it fills the room quite well. The volume can be adjusted in the app or via Alexa, neither of which are particularly convenient or have the precision of turning a knob and getting real-time feedback. I was playing music via Bluetooth and just asked Alexa to play something supposedly from Prime Music. I don't know much about Echo devices and I didn't ask them to do anything other than tell me the weather, but I understand the light can also be a hub to control other smart lights, outlet doors, etc Light spectrum or temperature is very impressive. It can vary from a yellow nicotine stain to bright white. I was able to easily balance it with the other LEDs in the room using the sliders in the app. Replacing all the lightbulbs in the room with these Junos so they can be customized would be great, but they're overpriced at the moment. I'm sure you shouldn't do this, but I installed mine on a dimmer circuit. Everything still works, but the light starts to flicker when the dimmer is turned all the way down. I got this for a house I'm renovating but since there is no internet in the house I installed it at home and will probably leave it here. As this was a fresh install I ordered a jar with a plug so no adapter was needed. I get frustrated pretty easily with incomplete or tedious installation instructions, but I really don't get what all the fuss is about. The app walked me through the steps to connect it to Wi-Fi and it took me maybe 10 minutes to set up Alexa and control the lights with the app on my phone. What had me pulling my hair out for days was Bluetooth. There is no sync button on the device and there is no mention of Bluetooth in the app. I checked the instructions and the support page on the Juno website but it was never mentioned. I was about to email support when I read these other reviews and it FINALLY occurred to me that Bluetooth could be an Alexa feature and not just a speaker. I asked Alexa to "turn on Bluetooth," and for the first time in days, "Juno AI Master Downlight" finally popped up as an available pairing option. When it's first turned on, a ring of blue lights will illuminate when connected. to WiFi. I really could live without it, but it's quick to plug in and unplug. Whether it's in the kitchen or somewhere else, the light will be on for a while, but in the bathroom, it gets a lot of use.

Pros
  • Feels good
Cons
  • Easy to care for
