Linksys I don't know

I've noticed that XP customers are having a lot of issues with this product. I was able to find out exactly what was going on with these products and provide that information to Linksys for free. I'm a computer security consultant and I usually get paid a lot for helping companies solve problems. The Linksys EPSX3 and EFSP42 print servers are similar in design and were developed before the release of Windows XP. Linksys hadn't updated the BIOS in years, so I wasn't surprised that their products weren't compatible with certain aspects of the XP operating system. technical support but what you get is some entry level engineers reading a help screen without knowing the real product or how the network works. I have found that the Windows XP firewall, which is often enabled by default, is blocking service to these print servers. If you go to your Windows XP Windows directory and find a file called "pfirewall.log" you will see that it is blocking access to the Linksys print server. This is because Linksys does not play by the rules and changes the incoming port to not match the outgoing port. The source port is 80 and the destination port is 3079. So the XP firewall is doing its job properly and Linksys should fix its code or work with Microsoft to release a fix for the rule. Linksys response to this situation is to disable all personal firewalls. The only problem is that most Linksys products aren't firewalls, they're modified routers that perform network address translation, providing security outside but not on the local subnet. I really tried to work with Linksys to help them fix their product. , but they wanted nothing to do with the correct solution and instead recommended disabling any other third-party software that might be interfering with their code. Good luck to everyone who has used these products, you will need them.
