Review on Authentic Kitchen Aid Beater Blade for 4.5 and 5 Quart Tilt-Head Mixer, White, Made in USA by James Roberts

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Not recommended / very light blade (plastic)

I was so excited to try my first mixing blade that scratched the sides of the bowl while mixing and was very disappointed with it. I've used it several times since purchasing it and have found that I can't fill my mixing bowls like I normally do because this mixer causes the batter to fly out of the bowl when the volume is the right amount. compared to my regular bludgeon blade. I tried this blade with a recipe that usually had plenty of room at the top of the bowl and wasn't about to pour, but using this blade I had to stop altogether and mix the rest by hand because I was wasting too much flour, as she flew out. I've also found that when mixing foods that contain wet and dry ingredients, such as cake batter, dry clumps form along the rubber "scraper" portion of the blade. Also be careful the middle part of the blade that attaches to the blender is open at the bottom with a large hollow center so your blends will get stuck there causing uneven recipes and also difficult to clean. I'm not sure if the center gap in the rubber at the bottom of the blade is necessary to keep it from being sucked into the bowl, but the dough stays in that gap as well. It might just be a cheaper/less expensive version of the original, which is probably why this model has so many issues, but I wouldn't recommend this blade unless you're using it for a very light use, such as cutting. B. Whirling room temperature butter. or something similar.
