Minimalist speakers that do almost everything right

These speakers are a bit pricey, especially compared to other $100 computer speakers, but they meet my expectations. I work in IT and apart from the usual things like listening to music I do a lot of vlogging and video conferencing on my desktop and that's where these speakers really shine. They make your music sound good, and they make a simple sound (in my case, a person speaking on the speakerphone with a lot of ambient noise) audible. These might not be great speakers if you're looking for window-shattering bass or punchy highs, but if you're looking for a set of minimalist speakers that get most things right, then this is it. This is my first BOSE and I have to say they live up to their brand name. Before these speakers I had a $9 Logitech and a 2.1 and both were utterly useless for tele/video conferencing. I won't talk about the $9 speaker as I'm comparing it to something over 10x more expensive, but the problem I had with my 2.1 was that it made the normal voice look very muddy. I unplugged the subwoofer but the treble, even on the lowest setting of the two speakers, was very distracting and this is where I noticed a clear difference in voice quality to the BOSE speakers. You might not notice it listening to these speakers, and you might find a cheap 2.1 system better if you only listen to hip-hop with high bass. But for varied acoustics, these speakers are a very good starting point. And yet they have a 3.5mm headphone jack. I have battery operated noise canceling headphones and when I use them with these speakers the audio is significantly louder than when I plug them directly into my desktop/laptop. This is an added benefit.
