Made like a tank but not perfect

I bought this wall mount for a Panasonic 50 inch plasma. As described, it is VERY strong and heavy. Overall impression and workmanship are good. I didn't find any jagged edges or other cracked areas. The levers are a bit stiff to operate, which is good because you don't want the TV to move in the wind. It would be nice to have a helping hand laying out the wall, since the whole unit is heavy. As for the cons: 1. The first obvious problem is the distance between the wall plate mounting holes. The distance between the outermost mounting slots is exactly 16 inches (not center to center). Since my interior wall studs are 16" centered, I had to relocate the mounting holes on the studs slightly to get them to work. It also makes the slotted mounting hole completely useless. It would also be better to have enough space. for 3 rows of mounting holes, not just the top and below. As mentioned this is a heavy unit and with the TV being heavy I decided to drill my own 3rd row to add more brackets. The instructions are fairly basic and it comes with all the necessary parts but I bought some new high strength fasteners. The instructions also recommend mounting to a concrete wall, with a few suggestions for attaching the studs.2.Second, there are two square pockets on the wall plate and the TV mount plate, they are great for Placing wall outlets for power and media, however, are slightly smaller than a standard wall plate The position of the bolt doesn't matter though as I just placed my wall sockets with the conversion boxes on either side of the wall mount. In general, I do not regret the purchase. This is a very powerful wall mount with good quality. However, this is not ideal. The main disadvantage is the distance between the mounting plates.
